Carrollton
Incorporated on February 19, 1836, Carrollton has one of the largest historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places. Many of these are located along Lexington Street or are within walking distance of the Carroll-ton Courthouse. One such building is the Masonic Lodge #36, one of the oldest lodges in continual existence in the state.
The Carrollton Community House was built in 1935 with WPA labor. The structure is one of the few remaining log buildings of this type. The Community House was recently restored to near original condition. It serves as a meeting place for family reunions, weddings, and other social and educational events. To rent the Community House, contact the Carrollton Town Hall.
The oldest cemetery in the county is located at the southeastern edge of town.
Four of the five Carrollton Churches are featured in Historic Churches of Mississippi. Tours of all five churches are available upon request. Call 662-237-0222 or 662-237-6926.

Chartered on March 31, 1899, North Carrollton developed around the train tracks and depot that Georgia Pacific laid in 1889. North Carrollton, located north of Carrollton, across the Big Sand Creek, is still a separate town.
The Carroll County Recreation Park is located at the edge of North Carrollton, on Hwy 35. This state of the art complex hosts games for youth and adults alike. J.Z. George High School calls the complex home as does the summer youth league and the fall soccer league. During the summer, USSSA baseball tournaments are held at the complex as well. Soon, an outdoor classroom and nature trail across Beasley Creek will be open for visitors to enjoy. For more information, call 662-402-5376.
East of North Carrollton is the Evergreen Cemetery, where J.Z. George and H. D. Money are buried with their families.

Vaiden
Incorporated in 1860, Vaiden has many old homes. One of these, Heritage House, is now a showplace for touring and dining. Two of the earliest families to move to the area were the Herons and Barksdales. One descendant, James Barksdale, is the founder of the Barksdale Reading Institute in Mississippi. The Vaiden Cemetery has many beautiful old markers, with family sections for the founding families. It is also the resting place for veterans from the Spanish American War, the Civil War and the American Revolution.
Historic homes are intermingled with buildings from other eras, most notably the old Vaiden High School, an example of the art deco era.
Since the county high schools were combined several years ago, the old Vaiden High School complex serves the community as a meeting place and the site of the Vaiden Farmers Market. Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, June - August, the Market opens at 9 am.
